Trying to decide on if i should stream these events (w commentary) or just post good quality vids of the fights afterwards...

If i do the livestream it will certainly take a quality hit and maybe cause some lag on some of the fights that already struggle with lag. My gut tells me as hype as it would be to stream em i probably should not.

Here is the main reason it works for some but not for me... this shit is online. If people were all chilling in my house and playing i could broadcast this shit easy without a slight skip-up on my connection and probably with decent quality... however with the pull from me hosting the BB match online as well as the live stream traffic it would potentially effect some fights and not give a 100% skill driven result.

Anyone else agree its much better to simply upload them with game sound and good quality over a stream?

I tested out the quality and holy shit... it rocks. Everyone here should be thoroughly satisfied with the tournament videos that are posted after each one.

I have an Idea, what if you recorded the matches and then asked a few of the members if they would do some commentary kinda similar to cross counter or the level up your game series do?

just a thought.

You mean commentary after the matches have been done or get the mic feed during the match to show up in the recording while its happening?

Id like to do this as well but i need to go through some tests to see if it will cause lag or not. I dont want even a single match to be fudged over the fact that im streaming it and it made someone drop a combo or something. Also there is a delay that occurs when recording that would prevent commentary from syncing properly unless someone other than me was doing commentary so i could have it come through the same line as the game.

yeah, it doesn't necessarily have to be live commentary. Just saying any type of commentary would be nice and would definitely set it above most matches posted online.

both I guess. I suppose you could appoint one person in a spectator room/lobby thing who could comentate with a mic, although im not sure if this would be possible.

Yea, the spectator commentary SHOULD would. Im almost certain that the audio that is recorded into the video when using a capture card is the audio flowing through the channel that more or less comes out your speaker. Because this live commentary would come through at the same time as the action and captured simultaneously would fix the delay issue. That or i could have someone do commentary over a vid afterwards. Personally i am not the most knowledgeable about the inner aspects of this game enough to truely give a incitefull commentary. I could give a hype as fuck commentary but some people may find that lame.

The only major issue left to decide on is if we livestream or not. Like i said before... running livestream + capture software + playing blazblue is manageable on my 25 meg upload speed but it MAY create a lag hiccup here and there. It would be horrible if that caused a match to go in a different direction if the lag is not necessary. The reason its so easy to live steam evo type events is because all the action is local and not bogging down the connection so therefore all that needs to be tugging on the bandwidth is the live feed itself.

Also if im streaming i wont be able to record at the same time off the capture software but will need to rely on the livestream saves that occur. This will cause a quality hit in the video. It won't look like shit but it would not be pristine either.

a stream with commentary would be nice and all but I think and this is only my oppinion it would be better if you recorded the entire tourney and while that's going you could be commentating (alongwith others if possible) and put people on blast lol!

Yig and stayfree for commentating duo! Make it happen.
