Wow I think that is half of my problem right there, I get airborne too much. Oh and can Hakumen use his drive while blocking? Or does it work better with an instant block?

Yeah, Hakumen is a force to be reckoned with on the ground and should be played as such, just something to get used to.
And Hakumen can't use drives while blocking but one he's out of blockstun he can use one. The reason IB-drive is so popular is Instant Blocks reduce your blockstun by 3 frames (used to reduce blockstun by 5)

Good to know. This will solve a lot of my problems. Now I just need to learn his bread and butter comboes.

Actually no I don't and any shorter comboes would be nice too. I want to get good at Hakumen.

Then you would have to learn the longer combos

Fine by me, I simply wanted to know if there's some shorter ones for mix-ups and stuff, the more weapons at your disposal the better.

The j.d definitely can be helpful when while air dashing, your opponent also dashes or runs closer to you, and you'd be in a bad position on landing the completed air dash, or in other similar circumstances. Another example is if you're about to eat a projectile, such as one of jin's ice swords. So yeah, it definitely has a few uses in the air, though it probably should be used sparingly in this way. It's also best to use it in these cases as close to the ground as possible so you have enough time to recover.

Just experiment :)

but his movement on the ground with dashes is a lil lacking n i find myself doing air dashes to close huge gaps when fighting lambdas...

I don't see how that is really related to the thread topic, but no, Hakumen isn't very mobile on the ground, but his airdash covers a great distance. Only problem is that while airdashing, you can't attack or defend, which makes you very vulnerable. Don't be dash happy with Hakumen, sometimes a few quick hops are all you need to close someone into the corner. But, definitely use air dashes as in air mixups just to prolong meter gain and stay a good distance away. Such as super jumping near straight up and throwing some j.a's, then when your opponent is close to you in the air, air dash over their head to the other side.

Mastering hakumen's movement is a mix of hop/623a/airdashing. All of these can be mixed and linked. Perhaps a double 623a, then instant air dashing, 623a on land, then a short hop. Just mix it up and experiment, Extend gives you more meter gain to experiment with such things
