I am trying to main Jin (Sub in Tsubaki or Hakumen) and I can't even get his patterns down in challenge mode. What advice can anyone give me? Even some basic things, like what moves to use against powerful enemies, like Tager, for example. Not only is he strong, but he's built like a rock, sustaining the one combo I am able to pull off (The one with the ice bow and arrow, I think. It was in Jin's 4th mission). I am in the same dilemma with Tsubaki and Hakume, but I don't use them much. So, any tip with my problem?

Well Jin's moves aren't that tough to do. If you're having issues with his challenges, I suggest going into training and get his moves down. Practice until you can do each attack without any trouble. Then go for challenges.

As far as some basic things go, here's a couple of basic combos:

2A~5B~5C~2C~6C~dash cancel~5C~j.C~j.2C~j.C~j.D~j.214C

2A~5B~5C~3C~214B

Try getting those down first. They are pretty decent combos and aren't very hard to do.

First combo you listed Chain works only on crouching opponents because nothing combos into 6C unless the hit before it was a counter-hit or the opponent is frozen in ice.

On a side note: Jin is a really allround character meaning he is good in alot of styles of fighting.

His ice is the key, for the beginning try freezing Tager alot by using 2D, I'd suggest 5D but unlike CT it is kind of useless.
Another good way of freezing is trying to land his Aerial Ice Strike for 25% Heat (the tripple aerial ice swords, the input is j.236D).

You gotta be careful though, Tager has an attack that goes through projectiles or attacks with projectiles properties.

For example it will go through Jin's 2D and 5D.

Other then that, alot of Jin's combos start with 6C into an aerial combo but since this attack is rather slow it should be used with caution.

Thank you but here's the thing. I have no idea what you both are saying. "5D, 2D."? What's that? I'm sorry, it's just...I use the PSN controller, so my controller might be different. Can you please tell me what the numbers mean? (At least I am able to figure out the letters.)

789
456
123

E.g, 5D means neutral D, 2D means down D, 236D means quarter-circle D, 632146D means semi-circle D.

FYI, it's not the PSN controller lol
It's called the Dualshock 3. :)
PSN = Playstation Network

Look at your numpad, the numbers show the direction you would have to input

789
456
123
A = Weak Attack(standard square)
B = Mid Attack (standard Triangle)
C = Strong Attack (standard Circle)
D = Drive Attack (standard X)

While 8 is up and 2 is down, 6 is forward and 4 is back.5 is neutral stance when he isn't moving into any direction.

Now if I say 5D, it means no directional input and D.
If I say 2D, it means down and D (Jin's ice pillar where he stabs his sword into the ground.)

Oh and the inputs are always written thinking of your character standing on the left, facing to the right to avoid confusion.

If you now look at Chain's post, you can go look up the moves of what he said.

For example, Chain said to start the combo with a 2A which would be down and A (standard square button)

It is a low jab that doesn't do good damage but it is fast and it's good to hit some opponents with it when they are doing slow moves therefore you can then counter-attack.

Although it is fast and versatile, it prorates alot which means it will reduce damage later on in the combo so it is only good if you try to counter the opponent while they are pressuring you.

While now this might all sound difficult, later on you will know in which situation you will have to do what move, you will also see which moves of yours come out faster then your opponents and then you can combo them for more damage.

For now though all I said doesn't matter, at first I suggest you learn the combos first and stuff.The other stuff I said, you will learn it eventually automatically through time.

I hope I wasn't too confusing :3

Oh!!!!!! The numbers you wrote are like the direction of the analog stick! Wow. That explains it! Thank you for clearing that up. I'll try all the combos soon!
