I guess the best way to put it is that BlazBlue is the inevitable EVOLUTION of Guilty Gear, and not so much a REVOLUTION. You can't really say that BlazBlue is a completely fresh and new IP, because it borrows so heavily from Guilty Gear. But like I said, it's like they took Guilty Gear as a base, and altered it to make it better on many levels.

If you were to ask me, BlazBlue trumps Guilty Gear on every front. Sprites in HD are clearly better (whether or not you like the characters themselves could be debated), all the special effects (clashes, particles, Distortion and Astral effects, etc.) look excellent, the combat feels tight without feeling overly sensitive, the game has a VERY smooth flow to it (unlike the staccato, robotic feel of Guilty Gear), and hardware improvements give developers room for more (and higher quality) voice samples, sprite animations, etc. If you care about the extra modes, they're all there as well.

You have to give Guilty Gear credit where it's due. It definately pushed the 2D fighter genre forward despite the huge 3D craze of the late 90s. However, BlazBlue took up the reigns and improved on the Guilty Gear formula in pratically every way. Going back to reboot a franchise is a fine idea. SF4 did a great job in reviving the Street Fighter scene. Mortal Kombat made huge strides as well. However, BlazBlue WAS the Guilty Gear revival. So ASW can't really move the Guilty Gear franchise forward anymore without venturing into BlazBlue (or P4A) territory.

They can do a proper GG revival since they got the rights back though.

First off, when did this become "Blazblue is better because..." when I already showed the respect of just saying 'different strokes'. Why can't you just accept that different people look for different things in fighting games, and not everyone thinks the ability to chain attacks on whiff is an improvement over actually having to have this fundamental called spacing?
Also, the next person to say 'BB is just GG but...' is getting a long talk about playing a game before judging it.

Better for beginners on so many levels*

Yes, the sprites and effects in Blazblue are better without question. And I'm not sure about you, but for me, if I give a game with links and or late gatlings more than two minutes to learn, it feels awfully smooth to me.

"improved on the Guilty Gear formula in pratically every way" if you mean made it easier for new players to get into, then yes. Which, is a good thing for new players, and it's helped a lot of people (including myself) get into the fgc, but improvement from a perspective of practiced player's perspective is VERY arguable, since Gear characters are frankly stronger than Blazblue characters, which to me is more fun. If you like weaker, easier to learn characters, that's fine, but I believe from an objective standpoint Guilty Gear Accent Core, and even Reload is better than Blazblue. I'm not saying Blazblue is bad, but Guilty Gear has had more time to grow and evolve as a game, and it shows. In the end, my point is as always: play whatever you want, and don't make it a dick measuring contest when you've only given the other guy's package half a glance.

Edit:That awkward moment when I realize I'm on Snipe's account because I'm at his house. Everyone treat this as a post from Haku+men because I don't feel like copy-pasting stuff and relogging in at 5 AM.

lol faggot, i figured it was you even before i noticed the edit.

I like Guilty Gear more but i also like Blazblue. I think Blazblue improved on some points but i feel like it removed some of the 'hard but awesome' things GG has. I feel more accomplished when learning stuff in GG than when i do in BB, but that is just me.

Exactly. BB is still a fairly legit game, but it lacks a lot of what makes GG fun for me, because it's SUPPOSED to. It was always designed to be easier, which is a good thing, but easy doesn't mean more fun or better straight up, it's all a matter of perspective.

Blazblue =/= Guilty Gear

Comparing the graphics/sprites with the timeframe difference in releases is kinda silly Like comparing a ps2 game to a ps3, and expecting them to be on the same level.

Blazblue is more forgiving on Timing than GG

Sol is much more of the Anti-Hero than Ragna.

In General Guilty Gear's story feels more "serious" than Blazblue's does.

Johnny > Bang also

Why'd you join this forum if you've only played the demo?

I think you are a spambot but not sure since you aren't trying to sell anything.

Also Blazblue is better than Guilty Gear and I like Mori more than Daisuke (Except Daisuke's music is cool) Come at me bros.

I was 99% sure it was a bot but could of been a really bad troll. If I would of saw a link I would have thought otherwise.

Anyways ignore that comment and argue with me about how ridiculous I'm being for liking Blazblue more than Guilty Gear.
