What is the Reason that made you play Blazblue?

I saw a review by IGN and noticed it was anime so I went over there to have some fun hating on them for the non-anime-loving infidels they are.

Then I saw the game and, unlike what the reviewer was saying, it was actually really flashy, fun and complex looking and that the characters were anime-ish but not too stereotypical to feel connected to.

I've gotta go back to those IGN reviews and hate them some more. Seriously, they gave this game such a bad reputation

Derr how come I never posted here blah

At the time of JP release some of my PSN friends were hype for a fighter called 'blazblue'.
Then I forgot about it
Then around the time of EU release one of them reminded me of it, so I went and bought it (without seeing a vid of it even)

Now none of them play this
none of them even remember this gem I think

The review I saw gave it a friggin 9.2 or 9.4 by them lols

Wtf you mean Gilberto, IGN loved the game, called it original and fresh and other good things.

They even liked Extend(got a 8.5) although they said it would have gotten is higher score if it wasn't too similar to Calamity Trigger nor if it wasn't too complex.

The promise of a fighting game where no two characters' play styles could even be compared, let alone derivative. Also promises of permanent near-perfect balance.

Being from the makers of Guilty Gear also helped a lot.

Haha, yeah I'm pretty bitter. It had awesome potential but lost a little something every update, and lost everything in CS2. There are ways of balancing a game, ways of changing, and then there's ways to fail at doing either and breaking everything. Still, I respect the ideas they had in mind when they made Calamity Trigger and wish more fighting games would take after them. Give us more diverse characters and singl e player modes worth playing!

IMO the game only got more balanced with every update though....

CT was trash

CS was slightly better but the top and bottom were abit too good/bad.

CS2 was again an improvement, Makoto was a little too good, Tager's damage was outright pathetic and removing special cancels from throws mostly removed alot of the mid screen combos.

Extend is fantastic imo, I've yet to see any major issues, Ragna and Valkenhayn are both fair top tiers, Tsubaki and Makoto are perfectly viable despite being bottom, TAGER IS ACTUALLY GOOD THIS TIME, so is Platinum who was the absoloute worst in CS2. You also have Special cancelling after throws again, which I missed.

This game only keeps getting better, BB3 will be glorious if they keep up this trend.

Noel was 1000x more annoying in CS2 than Makoto was...
