I may be confusing them with another animation company so forgive me if I'm wrong, but the reason why is because, during the time they were animation CS, Gonzo was about to close as a company, it didn't have enough money to properly continue.
Then something happened (probably animated a popular series or something) and they managed to gather enough money to stay open and re-hire all the staff they'd had to lay-off previously.

May be confusing them with another company though orz.

I never undetsood why people don't like CS1 theme... I for example love to listen to it all the time while I'm already fed up with Iconoclast...
