While a misguided revolution would be interesting, wouldn't it end up completely taking over the plot, when we're meant to focus on the whole idea of "There are great and terrible incomprehensible beings that wreck our lives" bit?

I am sure both can be done together. Maybe the confusion of war can make people forget said dangerous beings, only for them to strike at the worst time for everyone yet again, causing mass confusion and...well, stuff, idk.

That makes it all the more interesting. It could end in the human race literally running for their lives after being completely routed in a bloody massacre.
