All it did was just increase her devotion to protect her friends and whatnot mang.

Although she did learn a lot from it, like what was in Ikaruga and whatnot, so I can't say it served no purpose.

Useless? She knows things now that 3/4 of the rest of the cast doesn't. A bit cheesy, oh yeah, but far from useless. And how many people in the cast have fallen into a cauldron and crossed time and dimension? Makoto popped out in a different time and a different reality. Not to mention she was able to return from it.

She didn't accomplish an awful lot, but the implications are huge.

We still don't know how she did that, to be honest XD. If it was her own will that did that, then she's pretty amazing and will probably have a huge role in the next game, but if Rachel did that for her, then it kinda was a waste other than the fact that she learned a whole bunch of stuff that almost nobody knows.

You mean the going in or coming back? Going in was just a stroke of bad (?) luck. And coming back, I'm pretty sure Rachel only showed her how. I think she said as much too, when Makoto accused her of making the Noel/Tsubaki illusion pop up, and Rachel said it was all Makoto's doing.

She also had those "dolls" helping her in coming back, but they supposedly only helped because of her strong connection to her friends.
