Hey guys. I recently picked up CS:EX and have started playing, although I've already run into a few things which stop me. I'm making my transition for SFIV, so I'm not completely new to fighting games. I know the basics of BB too. I play on a PS3 pad.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding the air combos really difficult to get. More often than not, I usually end up having my opponent just fall right out of it in the middle of the combo. Am I just hitting them too late?

This'll probably get filled up with questions as I move through this game...

Don't worry you'll get the hang of air combos (and combos in general) it's just a case of getting the timing of the inputs of your muscle memory. Just practice in training mode, in fact I think this thread should be able to help you out with practicing your combos:

Just keep practicing. Unlike SF, you have to flash buffer your next move while you do the current move. Since you are familiar with SF and fighting games basically BB has a 5 frame window of what the next move could be.

For example if you do 5A (Neutral punch) into 5B (neutral medium) you can just input it into a rhythm and it will come out rather than timing it like in SF. This is called a "gattle" which means you can cancel moves prematurely without having to wait for their recovery into a next move. It's a pretty good thing to use for combos and pressure.

Yay, CSX is getting hype for newcomers.

I think falco pretty much told you whats up. Its just a matter of you probably not inputting them fast enough, like you said. Unlike SF, you don't have to wait to input moves, unless they have a wierd combo timing or something.

I'm going to check out those links as soon as I beat Unlimited Hazama. Jeez this guy is tough. Dx

Note: I love Hazama's laugh with a passion.

BlackWolfLion777 - Thanks a ton for that thread. I guarantee I'll be using those tips a lot. Also, is that Yakuza 4?

Falco Fateburn - Thanks for those. The first link was more in-depth than the game tutorial and cleared some stuff up. As for the second link, that'll help me understand a bit more.

CB Squall - So for example, in Ragna's 5th Challenge(?), the combo is:
6A > j.C > j.D > jump > j.C > j.D > Inferno Divider (D) > Uppercut > Axe Kick
Do I just try and input that as fast as I can?

I believe that's the right way to go about it, like falco and squall said, BB doesn't have the strict timing that SF has, so pretty much you hit it out as quick as you can. (and yes that is yakuza 4).

Yep, hit 6A and right when 6A is about to hit the enemy hit 9 for a jump. You will notice Ragna will jump automatically after 6A was hit. There will be slight delay like a really really slight delay because of the hitstun 6A gives, but for newcomers like you I doubt you will even notice that. People like me and Squall and other players that are more familiar with the game and sort of competitive will notice it.

Just try to input the next move after your initial move has hit, in a rhythm.

If jump cancelling seems hard to you, just do 6A> j.C >j.D> 9j.C> j.D> ID > follow ups.

You don't have to do a double jump and then input the move, you can input both together.

EDIT:

Here this is how I input it

I'll probably stick with that until I get the hang of it, thanks a lot. Also, I can't seem to access the website right now, so I'll check it out later.

After about 45 minutes of chunking the combo, I finally got it. I'm proud of myself. xD
