im trying to get into playing as carl as he seems to be a fun character to play as.

the only problem is...

how the F*ck do i play him...

My only advice is to play him alot, until you get the hang of him and have no problem pulling of his / Nirvana's moves.
After a while, when you already can play him combolessly, the combos you should learn, if you know the moves, the combos should be easy as cake to learn.
Also, setting D to one of those shoulder buttons (If you use D-Pad / whatever) could help.

One thing to keep in mind with Carl... he is not an easy character to use or play. Try not to have high expectations in the beginning. In trying to get used to Carl, my win rate was like ~35% until I got good enough to bring it back up to ~55%.

You should first get used to controlling Ada and Carl. Setting Drive to a shoulder button definitely helps with this. Get used to using Ada's attacks while using Carl. You can't use Carl or Ada, you need to use them both. Once you get familiar with them, here's the basic ground loop:

2A > 5A > 5B > 5C > 6D

You'll need to get Ada's punch to combo with your standing C. Too soon and you can't loop it. Too slow, and it can be blocked. What helps in this combo is holding the drive button back down after you command Ada to attack. This way, Ada can attack without going into her 'wake-up' or 'shutdown' poses. For example, here's how I do that loop above in CS:

Hold D + 2A > [5A > 5B > 5C + release 6D > 6D hits + Hold D > 2A] repeat what's in the [].

It's different for everyone so yours may be different than mine. Keep using him and you'll learn the timings.

Without Ada, you can do:

5BB > 623C > 5B > j.5B > j.5B > j.214C

If you see your opponent on the floor and Ada's behind the opponent, you can:

2B > 2C > 8D > 2C > 8D > 2C > 214214D
-Try releasing 8D when you hit with 2C.

I think these are some basic combos you can do with Carl. If you can do this, you're on the right track.

It's what I used when I started. It's basically the same for CS too, but it is for CT so some combos may not work.

ok so basicly what ur both saying is set my D to LB(L1) or RB(R1) so i can control nervana easier and also try and rape them in a loop constantly...

man this may take a while since im used to tager...
